We are a come-as-you-are studio, which means there’s no strict dress code or required uniform. Dancers are encouraged to wear clothing that is comfortable, safe, and allows them to move freely. ⚠️ Please avoid clothing with buckles, buttons, or zippers, as these can be uncomfortable and unsafe during movement.
Whether it’s a leotard and tights, leggings and a t-shirt, or anything in between — what matters most is that dancers feel confident, included, and ready to learn. Shoes are recommended by class type, but beyond that, we welcome each child just as they are.
BALLET
Ballet classes require ballet slippers. I suggest ballet slippers with elastic criss-cross bands over ties or laces. The laces do not stay tied and are distracting for the dancers in class. My recommendation: HERE
HIP HOP
Hip Hop and Dance Team classes require clean dry sneakers comfortable for dance—preferably a pair they wear only in studio for class. While it is not required to have a separate pair of sneakers designated only for dance class, dancers should be changing from boots or another pair of shoes they have worn outside into clean, dry sneakers for class. My recommendation: HERE These shoes are flexible for dance but provide a strong grip for safety.
CONTEMPORARY/JAZZ
Contemporary/Jazz classes require a slip-on split-sole leather jazz shoe in the color caramel/tan. My recommendations: Capezio Capezio’s website recommends going 1/2 size up from your street shoe size. I would recommend a whole 1-2 sizes up. Linodes & Stelle are other options on Amazon—a little more affordable. My experience with these options is that the leather may be lower quality—they can be stiff and it rubs/cuts into the top of the foot.
TAP
Tap will require black tap shoes. My recommendation can be found HERE.
